Best Halloween Costume? Your Face.

By Erin Lin on October 19, 2014

What’s the easiest Halloween costume? Your face.

Okay, don’t start crying or get offended. I’m not trying to be rude or insult what your mother gave you. What I am trying to say is that people tend to forget that it’s not always the costume that makes or breaks your outfit.

Paint your face and everything else will come together. If you really don’t want to spend too much time trying to buy this and that for your costume, the best thing to be is always a college zombie.

Why you ask?

Because drugstore Halloween makeup is cheap and your closet is the perfect costume store. And yes, even if you are a guy who does not have makeup on hand, I swear that a couple bucks at a drugstore for a couple brushes, purple, blue, green, white, brown, black and red paint/eye shadow is all you need to look like you just came back from the dead.

So, how does one perfect this look?

Let’s get zombified.

Guys, you can also look pretty darn awesome even though you got makeup on your face

1. Wanna intensify this creation? Got foundation or anything lighter than your skin tone? Set that bad boy all over your face. You wanna look decomposed and stay away from a youthful healthy glow. If you don’t have this on hand, don’t worry about it. You can skip this step and just move onto the next one.

2. Take red eye shadow and brush it around your lid and underneath your eye. Red is such an unnatural color around the eyes and will make you look like you’re starting to decay.

3. Take black eye shadow and contour the face. So, apply this underneath the cheekbone by starting from your ear and stopping halfway before it hits your lips. You can make a fish face and extenuate where the cheekbone actually is and use that as a guideline. Spread black eye shadow onto your temples and around the jaw line  to give off a sunken skeleton look.

4. Use a light hand and apply purple and black around the eyes to really awaken your inner zombie. Don’t use too much or else your inner panda might come out.

5. You want most of the zombie color to surround the eyes, however you can lightly dab blue, purple and black around the face and let it trail off from the eyes.

6. If you want to look really dead, use a thin detailed brush and blue to imitate veins popping out from the neck and around the cheek. Go back over it with black to make it three dimensional. Now use a bit of white and run it over the veins to look like they are underneath the skin.

You’re done! Now let’s go scare the crap out of people and eat some brains. ‘Cause gosh darn, you deserve it!

Do I look dead yet? My zombie look for 2014!
