St. Louis, Missouri is a prime tourism location in the Midwest, drawing visitors from all over the world. For those lucky students that attend college in the St. Louis area, those tourist attractions that people travel from all over to see are right at your fingertips, waiting to be explored.

Here are eight sites to see in St. Louis, Missouri.

1. The Gateway Arch

Everybody knows about the arch. You can see it from just about anywhere in St. Louis, and it’s one of the city’s largest tourist attractions. Guests can ride up into the arch (a 630-foot ride, so definitely not for those afraid of heights) and get an unbeatable view of the city.

Though lines tend to be long, and the ride isn’t free, if you go to school in Missouri and haven’t hit up this tourist attraction yet, you’re missing out. It’s something that you have to do, at least once during your college career.

2. The St. Louis Zoo

Everybody loves the zoo. It’s family friendly, cute and an absolute blast when you go with the right people. And the St. Louis Zoo has been recognized as one of the best in the nation, making it yet another must-see tourist attraction in the area.

You can make a day of it, with dining and rides within the park, and plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied for hours. Plus, admission is free. In other words, this tourist attraction is perfect for college students!

3. The St. Louis Science Center

No, that doesn’t sound fun. I promise, it is. The museum is filled with different attractions perfect for all ages, including interactive exhibits, an Omnimax Theater, the Planetarium, science demonstrations and many more.

It’s the perfect location for a day out and who knows? You just might learn something!

4. The St. Louis Art Museum

Looking at art is such a peaceful, relaxing way to spend a break from college, and that’s why the St. Louis Art Museum is one of those must-see attractions for college students living in the St. Louis area. There’s the perfect balance of sculpture, paintings and photography, and any art fanatics aren’t going to want to miss out on this opportunity.

5. The Missouri Botanical Garden

The oldest botanical garden in the United States resides in St. Louis, Missouri. The garden takes up 79 acres of land, including gardens, landscape architecture, greenhouses and conservatories, all surrounded by beautiful fountains and statues.

Guests can also visit the Climatron to experience the rainforest, which includes waterfalls, tropical birds and exotic plants. If that’s not your cup of tea, you can also visit the Japanese garden. Either way, you’re going to have a peaceful day to help you de-stress from your schoolwork.

6. Six Flags St. Louis

Relaxation not really your thing? Not a problem! At Six Flags St. Louis, guests can get on their fair share of thrill rides and waste the day away screaming and laughing with their closest friends. Though this is easily the most expensive day trip on the list, it’d be worth it to buy a season pass for just a little bit more, so thrill seekers can visit the theme park as often as they’d like.

7. Forest Park

One of the largest Urban parks in the U.S., Forest Park is yet another great place to unwind after a long day of classes, or the perfect weekend outing for a group of students that are just looking to relax. The park includes scenic walks as well as biking trails, but that’s not nearly all the park has to offer.

There are also attractions within the park, including the Jewel Box (a greenhouse filled with beautiful floral displays), golf courses and the World’s Fair Pavilion for picnics and other social gatherings. The historic site (home to the 1904 World’s Fair) is yet another, must-see attraction for students living in St. Louis.

8. Grant’s Farm

Last, but certainly not least, there’s Grant’s Farm. And yes, you’ll probably find that the audience consists mostly of families and small children, but what college student isn’t looking to bring out their inner child? At the farm, you can feed animals, watch shows, attend dog-friendly events (for those of you with pets) and even visit the Budweiser Clydesdales.

There’s plenty to do at Grant’s Farm, so if you have a little extra time in the city, I’d advise you to use it here. At the very least, you’ll enjoy yourself.

So if you haven’t visited them yet, there are plenty of sites to see in St. Louis that you’ve been missing out on. So during your next break, or even on a long weekend, take a trip to the city and be a tourist for a day — you won’t regret it.
